Freedom and Struggle

The air is warm, but the concrete still cold against my feet. The gym is relatively empty, but filled with the sounds created by the effort of a few determined individuals. It seems as if little has changed since we’d left for the Philippines a half year prior. The same usual faces along with new ones shared the same smiles as they completed their training for the day. Today, though, was a slightly different day. Today we were training for competition.
